Limiting Measures on what DHS Border Patrol Agents can Share with Media

With border security and immigration being contested topics in the United States and recent surges in activity, the Biden administration has limited what agents and sector chiefs can share directly to media sources. Instead, all information queries are now supposed to be sent to the press office in Washington for approval, this is making it much more challenging for media sources to get access to current information on border proceeding facilities. This differs heavily from the Trump administration who allowed tours of facilities following the child separation policy uproar in 2018. These limiting measures are not an official documented memo but verbally issued, because of this some agents have shared videos of arrests and migrant surges without Washington permission. While some limiting measures are for covid purposes (not allowing tours) during the Trump administration journalists were allowed to do ridealongs with agents, since Biden's inauguration though, there have been no ridealongs.
