US immigration: Disaster agency Fema brought in to help with child migrant surge
The US agency of Fema that usually helps with natural disasters has been called to help the 3200 immigrant children being held at the US facilities since March 8 all while Biden attempts to reverse several of Trumps policies. Fema is said to help receive, shelter and transport children for the next 90 days. According to Bidens administration their goals are must different. They hope to ensure that unaccompanied children are transferred to the Health and human services department (HHS) as quickly as possible, consistant with legal requirements and in the best interest of the children. However, since taking office the number of children attempting to cross the border unaccompanied has increased to approximately 5,871. Most of the unaccompanied children are boys ages 15-17. Now the task of the HHS is to reunited children with their parents/guardians, US relatives or find a sponsor to take them while their immigration case is being handled.
