The United States, along with major allies in Europe and Canada, are set to announce a new set of economic sanctions on China for their human rights abuses involving the placing of the Uyghur Muslim minority in concentration camps in the Xinjiang province. These sanctions are supposedly going to be targeted towards individuals within the Chinese government that are most directly responsible for the human rights abuses, and these sanctions are following a tense and confrontational meeting between Secretary of State Antony Blinken and his Chinese counterpart in Alaska last week.
