House Passed Gun Control Measures

The Democratic Controlled House of Representatives passed a new gun control bill HR8 that passed in a 227-203 vote. The gun control bills are trying to expand measurements such as background checks and prohibition of sales to all gun sales. The backgrounds checks system would see much more mandates on the sales of gun in order to possess them. Those who are for the bill are mainly Democrat and those opposing are majority Republicans (following party lines). Those who would oppose this bill or any others in similar nature are due to the belief of the Second Amendment of the US Constitution which guarantees the possession of a firearm to the American people and that the right of the people shall not be infringed. With this bill being passed and moving through the process of becoming law, the future of the Second Amendment's "Shall not be infringed" portion may become infringed. The ability to purchase a firearm may take longer to complete and have multiple new laws that would create a longer and more difficult process for law abiding citizens to own a gun. Millions of Americans use their Second Amendment rights to protect themselves and their loved ones, but would this bill make it more difficult for certain individuals who are law abiding to purchase a firearm? The Second Amendment is meant to ensure such security from threats domestic and abroad, which makes this bill the latest threat against the Amendment. This will only become law if it does make it through Congress and is signed into law by President Joe biden. Joe Biden has campaigned on combating the Second Amendment and organizations like the NRA. If the Senate does pass the bill, HR 8 will have an extreme high percentage of being signed into law.
