BBC News reported on the protests occurring in Myanmar this past weekend. While these protests have occurred since the military coup on February 1st, this has been the most violent weekend to date. The AAPP (The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners) believes 38 protesters have been killed today, but there have only been about 21 reported. Many are suffering or have been killed due to gunshot wounds as the police opened fire on unarmed civilians. There is also a viral video demonstrating a nun pleading to spare a group of young protesters who fled inside a clinic where she had been working. The acting head of the CRPH (Committee for Representing the Union Parliament), Mahn Win Khaing Than is currently in hiding and supports the revolution, supporting the people’s right to rebel on Facebook. The military considers him and the group to be illegal and individuals who support the organization will be charged with treason.
