Recently a deal was signed between China and Iran to create economic and strategic ties with each other in order to challenge the U.S. This deal has China investing in Iran in exchange for oil, China getting oil at a lower price and Iran finding a way to bypass U.S sanctions. Iran also gets Chinese investment in their nuclear infrastructure as well. Iranian leaders were criticized for selling out to China as opposed to heroically fighting the U.S sanctions off independently but the deal is one that works for both countries and serves as a counterforce to U.S presences in the region as well as giving China better middle eastern influence.
