Starting Wednesday, ISIS began attacking the city of Palma in Mozambique, a town with roughly 53,000 residents was taken over by roughly 100 militants. The militants cut phone lines before storming the city, targeting shops, banks, and military barracks. Local suppliers and company boats in the area coordinated to rescue people. So far dozens of people have been confirmed dead, and others are missing and suspected of being hostages. A nearby gas site that had British contractors has also suspended activities and President Biden described the extremists as a 'foreign terrorist organization'.
