U.S. Condemns Chinese Boycotts of Companies Shunning Xinjiang Cotton

The Swedish clothing brand H&M is currently taking the heat in Beijing as the Chinese boycott the company for no longer sourcing their cotton from Xinjiang due to the unethical exploitation of their workers. A spokeswoman from a State Department has reported that the boycotts were egged on by China's communist government as they continue to profit off of the human exploitation. This is causing western companies to begin halting the imports of items produced by forced labor in China. With this being said this controversy imposes an interesting contrast between the United States' rhetoric about how fast fashion is unethical in the way that it infringes on human rights while China's rhetoric calls the allegations against them "malicious lies" handcrafted by "anti-China forces." While the Biden administration denounces the boycotting that China collectively is taking part in, the United States will continue to claim that they are simply abiding by U.S. laws and will support all the companies that do so.
