The Environmental Protection Agency announced Thursday it has relaunched its climate change website as part of the Biden administration's efforts to tackle the climate crisis. This is a drastic shift from the previous Trump administration and their approach. It has been made clear that several changes were made in regards to the language that was altered by the Trump admin to "reflect the approach of new leadership". In the most recent announcement, the EPA said that the revamping of the website marks the start of the Biden administration's commitment to "action on climate change and restoring science". This will be the first time in four years in which the EPA has a webpage that will guide the public to a wide range of information regarding facts on climate change and even programs across the country. The EPA noted that this is just the first step to providing the public with fully accessible information and programs that will be added in the weeks and months to come.
This change is monumental to our position in the global fight against the climate crisis and will be essential to making the US a leader in this fight. With the previous administration wasting nearly 4 years by dismissing the climate crisis as a hoax or partisan issue, there has been tons of opportunities missed. There will need to be a strong push with the Biden administration to overcome this setback.
