National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan says that Russia is poised to invade Ukraine as soon as this week, but still hopes that diplomacy can prevent an invasion. He points out their way of maneuvering troops and the "acceleration of that build up". The U.S. estimates that there is more than 100,000 Russian troops near the border and thousands added this last week. In addition to this, he says that an invasion would likely start with missile or bomb attacks, although those always poise a danger to civilians. However, he points out that the United States and NATO allies are poised to respond if there is an invasion. And the United States has already started to move some American forces and diplomatic staff out of Ukraine.
