“Ukrainians prepare for war at the site of the world's worst nuclear disaster” - Joey Jens

“Ukrainians prepare for war at the site of the world's worst nuclear disaster”

  • The article talks about how Ukraine’s Chernobyl exclusion zone has been abandoned since the world's worst nuclear disaster that took place there three decades ago. But now With tens of thousands of Russian troops massing just a few kilometers away on Ukraine's border with Belarus, the empty town is now home to security personnel preparing for war. Chernobyl is being used by Ukraine to prepare for another possible disaster. Russian President Vladimir Putin has denied that the Kremlin is considering a military intervention in Ukraine. The deployments of Russian troops in Belarus are allegedly tied to joint drills set to begin on Thursday. Satellite images, on the other hand, show Russian camps being built near the Ukrainian border, hundreds of miles away from where the exercises are taking place. The Chernobyl Exclusion Zone might provide a route to Kyiv if Russia invades Ukraine. According to American and NATO sources, President Vladimir Putin is gradually growing his military presence in Belarus, from 5,000 troops in January to an expected 30,000 troops by the end of this month.
