Vladimir Putin launched an invasion into Ukraine on Thursday, after weeks of anxious waiting from the rest of the world. these attacks included airstrikes on cities and military bases, as well as troops and tanks on the ground entering from mainland Russia, Belarus, and Crimea. Russia has even seized control of Chernobyl nuclear plant, just north of the capital city, Kyiv. President Biden and other western powers invoked strict sanctions aimed to cut off and weaken Russian elites and banks. Putin went on in response and as a warning to those nations that “no one should have any doubts that a direct attack on our country will lead to the destruction and horrible consequences for any potential aggressor.”
