After the last steps of Vladimir Putin towards Ukraine, the European Union, and the US hit back. Russia has made a couple of moves regarding the Ukraine crisis in the last few days: the recognition of the independence of the separatist region of Ukraine, troops to Belarus, and troops to Donbas.
In response to these actions, the west has acted with important actions against Russia. These actions are mostly economical and against the Russian banks and oligarchs. The sanctions come from the UE, the UK, and the US (Biden said these actions would be worst than the ones of 2014). Germany has also made an important move by putting a halt to the construction of the 2nd gas pipeline from Russia, which was a very important project to Russia (economically and politically).
