We are witnessing how there is being an escalation of tension regarding the truckers' protest in Canada. The latest news is that Justin Trudeau declared the Estated of Emergency, a tool never used before in Canadian history. This gives the government and the police extra power to act against protests.
This has led to the resignation of the Chief of police of the capital. After strong criticism of mismanaging the protests, where he was accused of underestimating the numbers, arriving late, and putting little force into it. Furthermore, the towers were reluctant to help law enforcement but they have directly targeted and warned of consequences if they do not cooperate.
Trudeau has threatened with strong consequences to those who keep up with the protests. All of this seems like an extreme measure for a president that has failed to prevent and manage the protests.
