Conversion therapy is no longer allowed legally in New Zealand. For anyone that doesn't know what conversion therapy is, it is forcibly changing a persons sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. This was passed near- unanimously.
This was first brought up last year and voted with 112 in favor and only 8 opposing. The minister of justice in New Zealand was very excited that this was passed for the rainbow community. The government has said that this therapy does not help and only causing harm to people. I would have to agree with that statement because I really do not know what it is but it still shouldn't be forced on someone to change things they stand for or believe.
