Japan border policy keeps thousands of foreigners in Limbo

In the article it talks about how Japan has kept their doors closed to most foreigners during the pandemic. Currently Japan is one of the hardest countries to enter, and only people that are Japanese citizens or permanent foreign residents are allowed to enter. This has affected about half a million foreigners who have planned to visit, study, work, or do research in Japan. There have been people protesting Japan and has come to the point where they have written a letter to the Japanese prime minister. Since the borders are closed this is hurting Japan's interest in people and have been looking to go to South Korea instead. I believe Japan has to weigh the pros and cons of each situation. As of right now it looks like they care about people's health and keeping the virus infections under control by not allowing people from outside to come in.
