This week’s blog post I will be talking about an article written by NBC News titled “USA’s Nathan Chen sets world record in short program at Beijing Olympics” by Phil Helsel. Nathan Chen is an amazing figure skater. I remember watching him skate on the tv with my mom. My mom and I love to watch ice skating competitions because I used to ice skate when I was younger for 7 years. It was a big part of my life and it is very difficult. I never got as good as Nathan Chen obviously, but I still remember the feeling of spinning and gliding on the ice. With the 2022 winter olympics going on, I am surprised there isn’t more news going on about the athletes competing. I didn’t even know Nathan Chen was competing in the 2022 winter olympics. I am pretty sure he competed in the 2018 winter olympics when he was 18 years old and did amazing as well. Nathan Chen is my mom and I’s favorite ice skater because he lands the jumps perfectly and his technique is beautiful to watch. I found this article interesting because there are different parts when it comes to ice skating. There's a short program and a long program. They are two different routines, but both are important. It was very cool to read about his performance and there was even a video in the article of his performance.
