Kim Potter who was a Minnesota police officer was sentenced to two years after drew a gun instead of a taser and shot Daunte White during a traffic stop. Prosecutor's requested 7 years and 2 months but Potters attorneys argued for a lesser sentence due to her lack of criminal history prior to this day. Her attorneys won and she only got two years.
The judge said this was an extremely difficult choice to make and she took a lot into account. The judge also said that this was a very unusual case and Potter made a horrible and tragic mistake.
The family of Daunte did not agree with this ruling and said that the judge didn't take into fact the tragedy that happened and how the family was feeling during this time. Potter is extremely sorry and apologized to the family for what she had done.
