“Day of Remembrance” 80 years after the Executive Order 9066

On the 19th, it was 80 years since the Executive Order 9066 was signed by Franklin D. Roosevelt to imprison Japanese Americans. Because of the order, around 120,000 people of Japanese descent, including those born in the United States, have been sent to concentration camps built in deserts and wastelands as "enemy aliens. President Biden expressed his determination not to repeat the mistake "nidoto nai yoni (never happen again)" in Japanese. He also stressed that he would use this "Day of Remembrance" as an opportunity to eliminate "structural discrimination" in the United States, including racism and discrimination against foreigners.
