Environmental Activist Murdered in Mexico City

Sami Flores Soberanes was an environmental activist and journalist in Mexico. Details surrounding his murder are still unclear, but he was shot in the head twice, and many believe it was because of his public opposition to the development of a pipeline in Mexico that activists fear will contaminate water. This would greatly affect indigenous communities in the surrounding area. Many people joined Sami’s friends and family to celebrate his life and mourn his death.
