The children of ISIS

Fatiha, a grandmother is trying to gain custody of her grandchildren, her daughter and daughter in-law had gone to Islamic State in 2013, within the first year both women's husbands were killed, the women had gone back to Belgium without any prosecution in 2014. The grandmother mention how one time the family was having a barbecue outside when one of the children saw a plane and dove under the table, thinking it was probably a reaction from bombings.

In 2015 both women disappeared from Fatiha's home with all of her grandchildren back to the Islamic State. They both want to return back home but the women are "convicted in absentia of joining a terrorist organization and would each face a five-year prison sentence upon their arrival on Belgian soil, but the judged ruled that bringing the children home and leaving their mothers in Syria would violate the children's human rights."

Everyone is in a though situation regarding the children, a lawmaker mentioned that Belgium needs to protect these children, they should not be blamed for their parents choices, but that they should also be careful because Islamic State training camps target children as young as 6 years old for indoctrination.
