U.S. and South Korea Sign Deal on Shared Defense Costs

On February 10th both the US and South Korea signed an agreement on how both countries with split the cost of the American forces in South Korea. This is a one year deal which addressed an issue President Trump had with allies not helping pay for American military presence. the old deal had South Korea helping with around half of the cost of troops being there. this new deal increases their funding by around eight percent. this deal did not change the amount of troops that will be stationed in Korea. within the next few months however negotiations will start back up again to talk about a longer term deal since this new one is only for a year with the previous being five.
