Emily Knutson: Venezuela Crisis: Border Clashes as Aid Row Intensifies

As inflation raises the prices of basic commodities, the Venezuelan people grow restless. Other countries have offered aid, but President Maduro has taken a strong stance against that. He has shut down the border that Venezuela shares with Brazil and threatens to shut down the Colombian border as well. Protesters are organizing a concert to bring attention to the economic crisis and to try to convince Maduro to accept the aid. President Maduro threatens to, pettily, hold a rival concert, the "Hands off Venezuela" concert, on the same day. These actions taken by Maduro are insane. A president is supposed to take care of his people and make sure the greater good is served. The borders are closing over aid- this is unlike anything else we have seen.
