Denis Baupin, a former French lawmaker, is attempting to sue four journalists and six women in a defamation trial set for Monday. As many as 14 women claimed that Baupin had sexually harassed them either by groping, sexting, or otherwise harassing them. Most of these women were members of the Green Party, a group that the ex-lawmaker was previously apart of. After a nine-month investigation, no charges were filed against Mr. Baupin. However, several ladies broke their silence and revealed details about their uncomfortable experiences with the formal lawmaker. Accordingly, progress in French laws has aimed in protecting sexual assault victims as well as promoting gender equality.
