China's Message to America: We're an Equal Now

As the rising power of China has continued to technologically, economically and militarily grow, the President of China Xi Jinping mentions the growing power of China by stating, "China can already look at the world on an equal level," when referring to the ruling power, the United States. The Chinese government is already calling itself an equal to the hegemonic superpower, the United States, and continues to put pressure on the Biden Administration. The United States greatest allies are finding China's growing power very concerning, including Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and others. Biden's remarks on the Uyghur muslim camps were also seeing backlash by Beijing that officials sought to Beijing, as Chinese officials put it, sought to “duo hui hua yu quan,” or take back the narrative. China’ have aggressively denounced Western pushes in its domestic affairs and heralded China’s rise. Joe Biden and the EU have continued to push back against Chinese behavior but as the ruling power only seems to threaten economic hardship upon those who oppose them, it becomes much harder to actually enforce policy against China. Chinese economy is allowing the nation to get away with many humanitarian issues as many stay quiet to not hurt trade connections with the superpower, but will we see the Biden Administration tackle to the issue, or will China truly surpass the US and become the next global hegemon?
