"Little Josh" wins viral pool noodle battle against hundreds of Joshes

On Saturday, April 24th, hundreds of people named Josh gathered in a Nebraska field for a battle royale style fight with pool noodles, fighting over who gets to keep the name Josh. The idea for this started brewing in April of 2020, when someone named Josh Swain made a group chat of all of the Josh Swains he could find on Facebook, challenging them to a fight. Eventually, the invitation was extended to all those with the first name Josh. This of course was a joke, but the internet ran with it. The location of Lincoln, Nebraska was chosen for its central location within the United States. Josh Vinson Jr., a four year old local of Lincoln, ultimately took the (Burger King) crown as well as a champions belt.

The original organizer, Josh Swain, used this event to help raise awareness and donate to local charities. He asked the Joshes to bring non-perishables for Lincoln's local food bank, as well as running a fundraiser for Nebraska's children's hospital. What started as a funny joke on the internet ended up turning into a national event used to raise awareness and provide aide to those in need. It shows how much of a difference people can make on their community and the communities around them, even through something that may be considered absurd.
