Indonesian navy submarine found split into three on sea bed

    An Indonesian navy submarine has sank near the coast of Bali on Wednesday, splitting into three separate pieces. It has been reported that all 53 crew members have been confirmed dead. Navy officials reported receiving signals from the submarine's location more than 2,600ft deep early Sunday. When an underwater rescue vehicle was sent down, they were able to confirm the wreckage. The submarine disappeared after requesting permission to dive during a torpedo drill however, the reason for the sink is unclear. Officials did find that the hull of the ship, the stern and the main part of the ship were all completely separated and the main part of the ship revealed a crack. The submarine was a German built vessel and was more than 40 years old however, it went underwent a refit in 2012.
