CNN reported on India's sharp increase of Covid cases in the past week and restrictions involving travel and lack of medical supplies, specifically oxygen tanks. Many of the individuals who suffer from extreme Covid symptoms are being turned away from hospitals due to lack of beds and supplies. India is the top producer of medical oxygen and many officials within the country and disappointed they are not able to provide their own people with these tanks. The mutated virus is also hitting many younger individuals and the symptoms are more severe. The country has set a world record for daily covid cases and has had the highest death toll for the 9th day in a row. Bodies are piling up at crematoriums and morgues, so the country is being forced to have many mass cremations. Six weeks ago, the health minister claimed that India was in "the endgame" of the covid pandemic, however, the recent situation says otherwise. India has asked Biden to lift restrictions on exporting products to produce vaccines quicker, but the US has not done so yet.
