Covid: Tests to be offered twice-weekly to all in England

Everyone in England gains access to two rapid coronavirus tests a week from this Friday, under an extension of the government's testing programme. These are lateral flow kits and can provide results in around 30 minutes, and will be available for free at testing sites, pharmacies and through the post. They're already being offered to kids in school and their families, plus those who have to leave home for work. This comes at a time when Prime Minister Boris Johnson is due to meet the cabinet to ease lockdown restrictions in England. This will see non-essential shops reopen and pubs and restaurants can start serving outdoors on April 12th. Later, he's also expected to outline plans to get coronavirus passports, so mass-audience events can take place in the months ahead. He will also confirm a traffic light system will be introduced when international leisure travel resumes.
