2 scientists win Nobel chemistry prize for gene-editing tool

The gene-editing tool CRISPR has been used by scientists to edit human and animal genes to create resistance to diseases like sickle cell and HIV, increase the yield of crops, and to even increase the amount of carbon plants can store. Charpentier and Doudna, the two scientists that developed the gene-editing tool, were given the Noble prize. This is significant as they are the third group of women in the prize's 112-year history to have received it.
