“China’s Treatment of Uyghur Muslims Sparks Anger Near New Embassy Site in London”

China wants to change the building their embassy is located in the UK, but it is a near a center of Muslim citizens. China has been accused of unfair treatment toward the Uyghur Muslims of which around 2 million have been put into camps. The author of the article notes how dependent many countries are on China’s business and are finding it hard to work against their human right abuses. Many people are protesting the way China is treating the Uyghur and many notes that trade is the thing people are more focused on rather than the lives of people. The UK has criticized China in the past, but activists want to see the UK take action. However, as stated before there is hesitation, China is a big export market for the UK and criticizing it could jeopardize their relationship. The US has made the most noise against China and wants other countries to do the same. It’s really depressing to how economic growth is being prioritized over human rights. I think that there is enough evidence for other countries to step in and do something about it. I think that ignoring the problem for trade is horrible. I think that China as obviously had a lot of human rights violations in the past that have also been overlooked because of trade. Jena Livesay
