The fiance of the late Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi filed a lawsuit against the Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman in a US courtroom on Tuesday. It has been more than two years since the Washington Post journalist entered the Saudi embassy in Turkey and never came back out. His fiance, Hatice Cengiz, with Democracy for the Arab World Now (DAWN) has filed a suit against MBS and twenty-four other "co-defendants" alleging they "tortured, murdered, and dismembered" at the direction of the Crown Prince. Current foreign officials are exempt from civil suits in the US, however, the Torture Victim Protection Act allows plaintiffs to sue for violations of basic human rights by foreign officials while they are in office.
