UK, France and Germany plan Russia sanctions over Navalny poisoning

The U.K, France, and Germany plan to impose sanctions on Russia after it was confirmed that the Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny was poisoned by a nerve agent. Navalny fell ill on a flight from Tomsk to Moscow on August 20th and was discharged from the hospital in September. The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons confirmed that Navalny's blood and urine had the presence of Novichok, a soviet era nerve agent. The French and German foreign ministers released a statement announcing a proposal to European partners that targets individuals deemed responsible for the poisoning, including Russian officials. The U.K foreign secretary stated that the U.K would work to take these sanctions forward. The Kremlin denied any involvement in the poisoning and offered to aid Germany in investigating.
