In 2014, the Colombian government signed a peace agreement with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia, the largest rebel group in the country. The government agreed to provide education, health care, and safety for the areas that had been beaten down by the longstanding civil war. However, instead of the government showing up to these areas, criminal groups moved in.

People from these areas are now protesting after numerous mass killings. One of the protesters has said that if this doesn't stop, "we will be exterminated." These indigenous groups have now called for a meeting with the Columbian president Ivan Duque to discuss the violence and call for action from the government.
