Tikhanovskaya threatened the strike if Alexander Lukashenko does not resign. Protests havebeen taking place in Belarus in response to the election of Lukashenko that many believe was rigged. Protests in Minsk marched towards Lukashenko's residence at the Independence Palace and were broken up by Belarusian police using stun grenades, rubber bullets, and water cannons.
