To give some background before getting into the story from today; tropical storm Nangka has been wreaking havoc in Southeast Asia. Prolonged rainfall since early October has created perfect circumstances for the flash floods and landslides that have recently been occurring. In a report from Oct. 13, 40 people between Cambodia and Vietnam had been killed and over 130,000 houses in Vietnam had been impacted. Then today there was a report that there is a search to find 11 soldiers whose barracks were buried by a massive landslide. Vietnam's 4th military region was the one hit by the landslide, just days after a rescue team (13) was killed while trying to rescue workers from a hydropower plant. The updated death toll is now 70 and there is fearful suspicion that flood waters will continue to rise in the next few days.
