United Nations Arms Embargo Against Iran Ends Sunday

The United States has objected to the ending of the embargo, but the decade-long U.N. arms embargo of Iran will end as a part of the nuclear deal the U.N. has with Iran. The ban barred Iran from buying and selling weapons internationally, specifically banning them from buying weapons like tanks and fighter jets. The U.S. worries that Iran will enter a "buying spree", but Iran has stated directly that they will not. However, the U.S. believes Iran will begin to buy weapons from Russia and China including fighter jets, aircrafts, tanks, and anti-aircraft missile systems. In response, the U.S. will continue to enforce sanctions on Iran as the U.S. is not a part of the nuclear deal. The Trump administration has warned the rest of the world that if they buy or sell from Iran they will face consequences.
