Iria Slavina, a Russian news editor set herself on fire in front of the interior ministry office in Nizhniy Novgorod. She states that it was the Russian Federations fault for her death. After her body was found, her home was raided to find any connections to the group Open Russia, which promotes democracy. Russia is denying that a search of the apartment occurred. Slavina was and editor for Koza Press whose motto included "no censorship" and has since been dismantled in relation to her death. She had been fined and detained on many occasions for disrespecting authorities in articles and covering events held by groups like Open Russia.
