Officials in Hong Kong claim that they have restored stability to the city three months after Mainland China instituted new security legislation. The police presence in the city has drastically increased in order to stop protests on China's National Day under the guise of protecting public health. This is the reasoning government officials in Hong Kong have used to break apart most recent protests regarding the "Save 12 HK Youths" movement. This is in reference to the twelve Hong Kong youth protest leaders that were arrested and extradited to mainland China while attempting to flee to Taiwan. The people of Hong King are, for the most part, dissatisfied with recent government action repressing free speech under the guise of coronavirus mandates.
